Patience, Perseverence & Belief

This past weekend brought Passover AND Easter. The Universe presented us with a spiritual buffet. Last night I tuned in to one of my all time favorite films........Charlton Heston, Yul Brenner, Edward G Robinson..........can you guess? The 10 Commandments.

I remember when I was a little girl and saw this grand film in the "new" Technicolor on a GIANT screen. I remember drooling over a handsome Moses (Charlton Heston) and am exotic and mysterious Pharaoh (Yul Brenner). Edward G Robinson who played characters in many "Gee" movies about gangsters in the 30' s & 40's (and was the pride of my grandparents who always thought of him as "the Jewish boy who made good) of course was yet again, another "bad guy" Hebrew turning against his people AND his G-d.

If you've seen this film a gazillion times like me, I hope you saw it again last night! If you've never seen it, please do yourself a favor and rent the DVD. The Technicolor is better than anything we have today (in my humble opinion) and the history lesson coupled with the dashing leading men of the day make for a wonderful few hours of ........entertainment?

Hmmmmmm, which brings me to why this post is titled, Belief, Patience, Perseverance.

In order for us to attain our goals, we know we must write them down. Even BEFORE we do that, however, we must BELIEVE that we are "good enough" to reach for them, and then indeed, attain them. Moses displays this belief from the very start of the "Saga" in the movie. Don't forget, the retelling of this story is factual. Moses was left in the reeds on a River as an infant to be claimed by The mother of Pharaoh. He was raised to ascend to that throne until "fate" redirects Moses as he discovers that he is indeed a Hebrew. Moses then realizes that his kindness for and towards the "slaves of the day" (The Hebrews) was not just an accident of character. As history unfolds, Moses in embraced by G-d to lead the Hebrew people out of Egypt to freedom.

His evil brother conspires with the sitting Pharaoh and exiles Moses out of the "court" and into the slave camps of the Hebrews where Moses learns about his "birth" people. His BELIEF embodies him and he then perseveres to "know" his G-d. The reward is that G-d chooses Moses to embark on a path of leadership that brings us the 10 Commandments and a deeper faith to all.

Once The Hebrews successfully crossed through the Sea (parted by G-d) to escape Egypt, they wandered for FORTY (40) years before coming to The Promised Land. Moses wrapped himself in his BELIEF as he persevered. Patience was never lost, even as the people may have become misguided, Moses maintained his sense of purpose and belief through those forty years of trials and tribulations.

For those who don't know why The Hebrews wandered for 40 years, it was because G-d wanted to make sure that all those who originally left Egypt were dead. The Promised land was to be for those who were actually born in the travail and journey of those 40 years. It was THEY who embodied the belief, perseverance and patience, and "the knowing" that they would achieve their goals. Moses himself was not allowed to enter the new land. Joshua lead the people into the land.

What can we learn from all this? If you are a non believer there is still a valuable lesson in the history of the "story".

~~~~Moses embraced his belief and HELD on to it for FORTY YEARS
~~~~He persevered through obstacles, travails, food shortages, thirst, enemies and those who were naysayers not wanting him to succeed.

~~~~His faith, kindness, devotion and caring for others was embodied in his BELIEF in his Journey and its Reward.
Moses knew that he would not be able to enter "The Promised Land". Yet he continued his journey because it brought reward to others. HIS reward was in leading helping others :-)
Compassionate Marketers know that we must always think of others and help them define and reach toward their goals in order for us to reach ours. We must embrace our own belief in ourselves and our worthiness. We must take one step at a time and move forward day by day and have the patience and understanding that we WILL be moving forward. We must always, in the face of adversity (or those naysayers in our lives) persevere in order to attain our goals.
For a few hours last night I became that little girl again, watching Moses speak with G-d, battling the Egyptians, and leading my people out of Egypt.
For a few hours last night I sat in front of my 221 inch tv screen but magically my mind was transposing the images to that Jumbo tron screen of my youth.
For a few hours last night I felt myself BECOMING my beliefs, REGAINING my Faith and perseverance, and knowing that I must take one step at a time, each and every day to attain my goals.
This morning I am aglow with a RENEWED sense of faith (in my G-d, The Universe and myself)
and KNOW that I already am everything I want to be so I am putting one foot in front of the other, taking steps every day on my journey and KNOW that I will attain my goals.
What about you?
May your day be a treasure bringing Increase and Plenty to your door.
Getting from Here to There
Before you can BE successful, you must know where it is you want to go, what steps you will have to take to get there and what is standing in your way.
Where You Want to Go
Setting a goal sounds easy, but it is not. In order for your goal to become attainable you must define it with great clarity and detail.
1- Write down you basic concept and then keep reworking it until it is EXACTLY what you want to attain.
2- Use your original notes and then write down your Goal IN DETAIL.
3- Describe, using all of your six senses what your life will be like and look like, when you attain your goal. What will it smell, FEEL, taste, look, like? What sounds will you hear? What does your Intuition (your Sixth Sense) TELL you, MAKE YOU FEEL like?
4- Speak your Goal into existence on a daily basis by creating affirmations and statements that describe your life as if you have already attained your goal (s). Repetition and emotion are the magic elixir that will initiate The Laws of Intention and Attraction to your doorstep!
5- Hold Faith that the Universe will arrange people, places, and situations to happen that will help you achieve your goal. BE ALERT and willing to take advantage of these situations when they occur. There are NO coincidences in life; situations are either opportunities (for those that ACT on them), or opportunities lost.
The Steps you will have to take to get there
1- Make a commitment to yourself
2- Learn the Skills that will be needed
3- Find and USE the TOOLS to help you
4- Take ACTION on a daily basis
5- Don’t quit; be there two years from now. Rome was not built in a day :-)
Practice The Slight Edge theory which states that you must take baby steps each day to get where you want to go.
Thomas Edison found 978 ways NOT to construct a Light Bulb, but the 979th way was THE RIGHT to do it! If Mr. Edison quit before he got to the 979th way, Civilization would be “living in the dark” without electric light bulbs! He stated with great delight and pride that he had found 978 ways NOT to make a lightbulb, and by the way, many of those 978 ways NOT to make a lightbulb produced many other great inventions!
What is standing in your way?
1- Do not let anyone Rent Space in Your Brain! It’s valuable territory! We all have those “little voices” in our mind that tell us we cannot do this or that. Perhaps it’s your Auntie or your Dad. YOU can do whatever you set your mind to accomplish; the voices only have control over you IF you let them control you so
2- Clear your brain and BELIEVE in yourself. Free yourself from self doubt by reclaiming your mind; it’s valuable territory and YOU and you alone control it!
3- Start a Daily Personal Growth program. Read a good book, listen to CD’s, watch a DVD that will keep you motivated, keep you moving forward and believing in yourself. Read at least 15-30 minutes in the morning and then again before you go to bed each night. Remember, your mind works on the LAST thing you feed it at night, so be sure to give it something enriching to work on (instead of watching the news on television)
4- Write down affirmations and review them (with emotion) on a daily basis to keep yourself moving forward and motivated.
5- Learn to BELIEVE in yourself and your abilities. If you have learned the proper skills, have clear, decisive goals and learn to TRUST in yourself then you will invoke the Laws of Intention and Attraction and they will be your constant companions on your Journey towards Success.
6- Remember that once you attain your Goal that you must create a NEW goal and begin once again! There is nothing better in life than to KNOW that we each have the ability create and achieve. We must always remember that it is the JOURNEY that is important and we must covet and enjoy each new path that we embark on!
7- Always be sure to Believe in yourself and practice “THE KNOW”. The Know is simply your ability, deep down inside you to realize that you are worthy and deserving and that by taking the correct steps, invoking The Laws of Intention and Attraction you WILL attain your goals. Belief is the KEY ingredient in your success!
How to Get What you Want
The power is WITHIN you.
Many of us are looking elsewhere for the "magic", lament that others "always have the luck" or feel that we "will never be able to achieve" what others have. Simply put, our hearts desire is empowered and grows when we THINK and ENVISION what we want, in actually picture format.
The magic?
Believing that we WILL attain our desire, HOLDING ON to that picture in our heart AND brain and ALLOWING the Universe to help orchestrate the outcome. We must never forget that we are a Magnate that attracts what we get, so keeping focus, "right thinking" and consistently HOLDING ON to that picture creates positive energy.
To learn more about how YOU hold the power to create your own life, paint your own landscape, I am gifting you TNT The Power With You by Claude Bristol, with my love.
What you will read in the pages of this book WILL change your life IF you have the desire to learn from them and ACT on them.
To claim your Book please send an email to
TNT@CompassionateMarketing.com Be sure and include your name, phone number and email address.
I wish you a lifetime of whatever it is that you PICTURE for yourself :-)
May your day be a treasure bringing Increase and Plenty to your door.
On Letting Go (How to vanquish the Ghosties)
Ahhhhhh, "letting go" has many names :-)
'Tis the Ghosties we carry in our mind that usually do us in, freeze our ability to move forward, ACT or DO, thus rendering the power of the Universe prostrate.
The ONLY thing that stops the power of The Universe working for us is our own thoughts. They act as a steel wall that repel The Universe or allow her to work on our behalf.
Being able to thwart our negative thoughts is a huge undertaking. We ALL hear "little voices" telling us,
We can't
We are not worthy
We are not pretty
Who would listen to us
We are not smart enough
and the like.
When we cultivate and grow the ability to extinguish or repel those little voices we can then plug in to The Universe and all that she has to offer.
How to do that?
One exercise I use in my coaching is to teach people to
first admit and face their ghosties (or voices) simply by telling themselves that they indeed are there. No secret or magic here, this is VERY straightforward :-)
Second, we find a way to repel those voices and the very BEST way to do that is to construct several "Perfect Moments" or "Perfect Days" in your minds' eye.
What is a "Perfect Day or Moment"?
That which NOTHING can interrupt when you are thinking about it because a perfect moment or day will
1- be so intense that your mind will evoke EMOTION
2- be so intense that your mind will evoke SENSATION
3- be so intense that your mind will evoke STRENGTH
4- be so intense that your mind will be FOCUSED on your Perfect Moment/Day
Here is an example of one of MY perfect Moments. It is when I gave birth to my son. I remember The Doctor putting him on my belly whilst he was STILL attached to me! He had a perfectly round head with orange hair. I can hear the Nurse exclaiming, "Oh, a Pumpkin!" I remember thinking, "of course he has orange hair", wondering why she was so incredulous! Then my baby lifted his head, looked straight at me with eyes wide open, grinned and gurgled and then put his head down. He smelled like..........it was a smell I could never name, but......
I can SMELL him RIGHT NOW (because I am telling you about it)
I can, at this very moment, FEEL what I was feeling then.
I am, at this very moment overwhelmed with the Joy and Love I felt at that moment
I am at this very moment, INVINCIBLE; Goddess of Motherhood, Nature and protector of my child which is EXACTLY the way I was feeling at that very moment 30 years ago.
At this very moment, NOTHING, NO VOICES can get through my thoughts.
Constructing your Perfect Moments and Perfect Days is a tool that one should develop so that they can invoke it as a POWER whenever self doubt or one of the voices starts murmuring in your head. They negative thoughts/voices will soon be vanquished and they will subside.
When we take control of our own thoughts, we become invincible and become one with the Universe allowing her to bring us our favors.
Take some time today and WRITE DOWN your Perfect Moments or a Perfect Day!
PRACTICE bringing them out, wear them, FEEL them, Taste and Smell them, and know that YOU are for that moment in time, right now, INVINCIBLE!
The many Faces of Perception
You are who you THINK you are :-) Really?
My Step Dad recently had a mini stroke and had the big artery “roto rootered” because of a 90% blockage.
We have been talking every day since then. I know him since I was 14 years old and he is a very large part of my life even though we have not been close in the past 20 Years or so. My Mom recently passed away and so I have been “repairing the relationship” with my Step Dad. I won’t bore you with family details, but I suddenly realized that there is a Life Lesson in what is happening NOW and it can and SHOULD BE applied to all of us as Compassionate Marketers :-)
PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING
Families being what they are, it has been MY perception that my Step Dad really didn’t care about me thus did not pay attention to anything about me.
Yesterday we were talking on the phone and I mentioned that I had recently been awarded a Top Builder’s Award from my company.
This is what he said to me; “You know RS, I always knew you were a terrific “sales” person.” But LISTEN to what he said next…. “I remember when you were 18 and had come for dinner. You were selling Colliers Encyclopedias back then. “(I ran a team of people who sold these great books door to door!)
He continued,
“We were almost ready to sit down for dinner and you asked if we could wait about 15 – 30 minutes or so because you had been chatting with Mr. Jimmie the Superintendent of our building and he wanted to know more about the Set of Encyclopedias. You went downstairs to speak with Mr. Jimmie and came back up for Dinner in 17 minutes and had sold the set to Mr. Jimmie and his family! You were so very excited RS. I remember because I congratulated you on your sale and YOU said that it was so great that Mr. Jimmie’s children would have the opportunity to learn from these great books because it would give them a better start in school and they would get better grades and have better opportunities!” He continued, “I was impressed that you were more excited about the future of Mr. Jimmie’s children than making the sale. I knew you had a great future ahead of you and whatever you did would involve helping others.”
WOW! My Step Dad, all these (4) DECADES later (yeah, I am that old, lol) remembers AND respects me for my talents, even now.
Perception IS everything and I have been operating under the perception that my Step Dad
1- did not consider me part of the family
2- care about or take notice of my accomplishments
3- did not feel that my accomplishments were worthy or valuable
A friend has recently suggested that when someone has a stroke that different parts of the brain become ACTIVATED and memories come flooding in. My NEW perception however, is that I have a Step Dad who never knew how to express his feelings and even though he may have cared about me all these years, he had never expressed those feelings. (He waited 40 years until our conversation the other day to tell me how proud of me he was/is)
ALTERING OUR PERCEPTION
1- We do not have control over OTHER peoples feelings or Actions, but we sure DO have control over our own perceptions, feelings and actions.
2- What things have happened in your life that are stopping you from believing in yourself and taking action on things that you want and dream about?
3- What people in your life may think you are special but don’t know how to express themselves?
4- What are you DOING to grow yourself (personal development) and understand that it is YOUR PERCEPTION of the world around you and YOUR PERCEPTION of an encounter with someone as a Compassionate Marketer that really matters.
If you care about others and have the desire to Help people Live their Dreams they will FEEL your sincerity and be comfortable and want to be around you. For whatever reasons, it took my Step Dad 40 years to reach out to me, and it took the same 40 years for me to take a step back and change MY perception by paying attention, being caring and listening with my heart!
You see you ALREADY ARE everything you want to be. You just have to take action and believe!
The Secret to Believing in Yourself
At a recent Atlanta Leadership Summit I spoke about belief. You know, it's really simple!
"Whatever you want to be you ALREADY ARE."
It's already there, right inside of you. Sometimes we get in our own way and inhibit that which we want the most :-)
There is no magic recipe, what is needed most is that you have faith in yourself and Take Action. That's the secret. Taking Action is the catalyst for "what you already are" to grow and bloom.
Get out of your own way! Give up the ghosties. Stop letting other people rent space in your brain telling you what you can and cannot do, what you an and cannot be. You already ARE---- and as my friend Yoda said, There is no try, there is DO or NO do."
THAT is the secret---- Take Action and BE what you arleady are!
Here is another way to describe your belief in yourself. It comes from a newsletter on Kabbalah.
"Anxiety is internal. It feels real but it's not. Many of us are our own worst enemy because of our unkind belief systems about who we think we are - and are not.
We don't accept ourselves, both the Light and the dark. Somehow we should be better, should be more like someone else, should be further ahead.
To quote The Deer Hunter: "This is this, this ain't something else, THIS IS THIS!'
You have a deep, spiritual soul that has the capacity for unconditional love. The first and most important love is self love, everything flows downstream from there.Today, give yourself the gift of unconditional love."
Remember, "Whatever you want to be you ALREADY ARE."
